When to Call for Air Conditioner Repair

An air conditioner failure in the middle of the summer isn’t just an inconvenience; it can be dangerous if you have vulnerable people in the home. Sometimes, it’s not always apparent when a problem requires calling for AC repair.

Here are the most common problems where you should call for AC repair.

Warm Air

If the air conditioner starts blowing warm air no matter how much you fiddle with the thermostat, it should be cause for concern. Whether it’s a refrigerant leak or a bad compressor, this issue is best left to a professional HVAC contractor to fix.

Electrical Issues

It’s not normal for your lights to flicker when your AC kicks on, which could signify a serious problem. Air conditioner electrical problems aren’t something you ever want to ignore. If your AC causes your lights to flicker or trips the breaker, call a professional contractor for help immediately.

Your AC Short Cycles

It’s normal for your air conditioner to turn on and off more frequently as the temperature rises; however, if the system quickly turns on and off without reaching the desired temperature, it means you have a problem. Frequent cycling makes it difficult for you to get comfortable and puts additional strain on the system, leading to premature failure.

Whether you need to schedule an appointment or need emergency AC repair, you can count on the pros at Gresham Heating and Cooling to arrive quickly with experienced technicians to restore comfort to your home.

Benefits of an AC Tune Up

Many homeowners fail to take air conditioner maintenance seriously, thinking if the system works as expected, why bother?

However, your air conditioner is a complex machine that works hard to keep your family comfortable during summer. Over time, that hard work causes wear and tear, leading to system failure and costly repairs.

If you’re one of those that doesn’t put AC maintenance at the top of their household chore list, here are a few reasons to reconsider.

AC Maintenance Helps You Avoid Problems

Imagine your air conditioner breaking down as the summer heat becomes unbearable. This happens more than you think. However, with routine AC maintenance, you can ensure your system is working correctly and can meet the heavy demands of a hot summer.

AC Maintenance Catches Minor Problems

People who don’t conduct routine air conditioner maintenance are often unaware of minor problems affecting the system’s performance. If left unrepaired, these minor problems can escalate to cause system failure and costly repairs or require replacing the whole system. With annual maintenance, your AC contractor finds these minor issues and fixes them before they have the chance to do real damage.

AC Maintenance Improves Your Home’s Comfort

The reason you have an air conditioner is to keep your home and family comfortable during summer. If the system isn’t running efficiently, it can’t do the job as effectively as you’d like. With regular maintenance and tune-ups, you ensure your system is running at its optimum level, keeping your home comfortable with reduced energy consumption.

AC Maintenance Extends the System’s Lifespan

It’s well known that a machine that receives routine maintenance lasts longer than ones that don’t. Because your air conditioner is an expensive home investment, it makes sense to do everything you can to keep it running as long as possible.

Our AC maintenance services are affordable and guaranteed to get your system into the best shape possible for maximum comfort and energy savings.

For questions concerning new products, energy efficiency ratings, savings on your utility bills, or repair or replacement services, call your local Ruud dealer. He can answer all of your heating and cooling questions.

There are special names for the efficiency ratings of varying types of equipment. Heat pump equipment in the heating mode is rated by the Heating Seasonal Performance Factor, or HSPF. The higher the HSPF rating, the more efficient the unit.
However, we recommend that plants be no closer than 18 inches to the unit. This allows for plenty of room for air circulation in and out of the unit. Without this room for air circulation, the unit could overheat, resulting in a premature need for service.
