Benefits of Central Heating Installation

Central heating is the only form of heating that warms the entirety of your home evenly. There’s nothing quite like being completely surrounded by consistent comfort. In fact, the consistent temperature is better for your respiratory system, and the gentle movement of air keeps the circulation of allergens to a minimum. Central heating is quiet, efficient, and effective, and automated controls make the systems very easy and convenient to use. Better efficiency also means less environmental impact and money saved.

When to Consider Heating Replacement

Most heating problems can be solved with repairs. But if your heater is more than 15 years old and has frequent issues, you may be due for furnace replacement. In general, if the cost of repairs are equal to 50 percent or more of the total cost to replace your unit, then a new heating system is the best route to take. And if, even after maintenance and repairs, you notice that your heating system still struggles with efficiency, replacement is probably necessary. If you take care of your home heater, it has the potential to last well beyond 15 years, so make sure you don’t put off maintenance and repairs, so that you can avoid the need for replacement as long as possible.

Don’t fear near-freezing Canby, OR, winter temperatures. Call Gresham Heating and Air Conditioning at (503) 667-7594 for furnace maintenance, so you can stay warm all season long.

  • Should outdoor units be covered in winter?
No. Ruud heat pumps operate year-round and should never be covered. Similarly, air conditioners that operate seasonally are built to withstand an outdoor environment and should not be covered.
  • Can shrubs or flowers be planted around an outdoor Unit?
However, we recommend that plants be no closer than 18 inches to the unit. This allows for plenty of room for air circulation in and out of the unit. Without this room for air circulation, the unit could overheat, resulting in a premature need for service.
  • What does HSPF stand for?
There are special names for the efficiency ratings of varying types of equipment. Heat pump equipment in the heating mode is rated by the Heating Seasonal Performance Factor, or HSPF. The higher the HSPF rating, the more efficient the unit.
